Harrogate Scrubbers celebrate their two year anniversary today
Harrogate Scrubbers will be celebrating today after giving out 2037 scrubs to Harrogate Hospital throughout the pandemic
Today marks almost two years since the Harrogate Scrubbers gave out 2037 scrubs to Harrogate Hospital.
The Scrubbers will be getting together to celebrate the completion of five memory quilts.
The group started off on Facebook and had reached over 800 members in 2020. The group supplied hospitals, GP’s, Hospices and care homes with scrubs throughout the first lockdown and beyond.
In celebration of their achievements of providing the scrubs to the hospital in just 6 weeks, group members were invited to sew a square of fabric detailing what it meant to them to be part of such an amazing project.
These have all been compiled into five stunning quilts, and a book has also been created by founder Fran Taylor with photos of the squares and each group members memories
Fran explains, “The experience of being part of the Harrogate Scrubbers meant so much to so many people, that we wanted to commemorate the groups achievements, and also give everyone something to remember for the part they played supporting the NHS in the pandemic.”
“We also wanted the opportunity for group members to actually meet up and share their memories and we have therefore created an event on at Pavilions of Harrogate on Wednesday 18 May at 19.30pm, whereby everyone who took part will be invited to join us, see the quilts on display, and raise a glass to the contribution everyone made.”
Tickets for the celebration can be found on Eventbrite.
