Two men arrested in Grimsby after police car chase

Two men are in police custody, after roads policing officers spotted a vehicle being driven erratically on Hainton Avenue in Grimsby at around 8.40pm last night (Thursday, 31 July).

When requested by officers, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop, and a short pursuit ensued leading the vehicle to eventually come to a stop a short while later.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver and passenger were detained, and officers conducted a search of the vehicle discovering items such as rubber gloves, a balaclava, screwdriver, and baseball bat.

A 31-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, going equipped for theft, possession of an offensive weapon, theft of a motor vehicle, and failing to provide a roadside drugs swipe.

A 33-year-old man was also arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped to steal.

Both men remain in police custody assisting with ongoing enquiries at this time.
