Two former Humberside Police officers found guilty of gross misconduct
The pair were found to have sent inappropriate comments to female colleagues
Two former Humberside Police Officers, based in Hull have been told they would have been fired, had they not already resigned.
33-year-old Ross Anderson and David Brewin, 37 have been found guilty of breaching the standards of professional behaviour, amounting to gross misconduct.
Anderson’s breaches relate to incidents between 2019 and 2023 where he sent inappropriate images of himself to three people, as well as making inappropriate sexual comments to a female colleague and touching her without her consent.
Brewin’s breaches relate to incidents in 2020 and 2021. Whilst on duty, he made repeated inappropriate and unwanted comments of a sexual nature to a female colleague over a prolonged period.
An internal investigation commenced by the force’s Professional Standards department when information was received of their behaviour.
Anderson resigned in February 2024 and Brewin resigned in April 2024.
Had both officers not already resigned, they would have been immediately dismissed. They have also been placed on the College of Policing Barred List, which means they are unable to work for any other police force in the UK.
Deputy Chief Constable Dave Marshall said: “Both Anderson and Brewin’s actions have fallen far below the standard that we expect of our officers, and their complete lack of respect and repeated inappropriate and deplorable behaviour towards colleagues is wholly unacceptable and completely inexcusable. "
“We will absolutely not accept this behaviour within Humberside Police and we will take action against anyone who commits these types of offences."
