A 200m cordon is in place in the centre of Hull this evening, after a suspicious package was discovered in St Stephen's shopping centre.

We're told explosive experts are on their way to the scene too, after Police were first called around 6.20 pm this evening

Evacuations have taken place from St Stephen's Shopping Centre, with roads around the area closed.

There's closures in place along Ferensway and Anlaby Road.

Rail and bus operators, including Stagecoach, East Yorkshire Buses and Hull Trains say their services are being disrupted, as closures are affecting Hull Paragon Interchange.

While Hull Truck Theatre say they've had to cancel this evenings performances, with ticketholders due to be contacted by their Box Office tomorrow.

A statement from police says "The cordon is in place for the safety of the public whilst awaiting EOD to arrive at the scene to examine the item.

Evacuations around the area have taken place and members of the public are asked to please avoid the area until we are able to advise otherwise."
