Staff member at shop in Scunthorpe reportedly threatened with a machete

A staff member at a shop in Scunthorpe has reportedly been threatened with a machete.

It happened on Manor Road yesterday evening just before 8pm.

It's believed a man demanded money and cash was taken from the till.

Police say the worker wasn't hurt in the incident.

The man, described as wearing a face covering and dark clothing, is believed to have fled the scene on a bike

Detective Inspector Charmian Bakersmith said:

ā€œI understand an incident of this nature is likely to cause concern amongst the community however, I would like to offer reassurance that we have been following a number of lines of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, to identify the person involved.

ā€œOfficers from the neighbourhood policing team regularly patrol the area and will continue to offer reassurance to local residents. If anyone has any concerns, please come and speak to them.

ā€œWe would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time the incident occurred, to please contact us on our non-emergency number quoting log 473 of 25 February.ā€
