Humberside Police say the extension is necessary due to the "complexities" in the investigation

A further extension has been granted to Humberside Police to question a 59-year-old Russian national on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
It's after a collision in the North Sea off the coast of East Yorkshire on Monday, which saw cargo ship the Solong crash into oil tanker Stena Immaculate.
The man was arrested late on Monday evening (10 March), and he has remained in custody since this time with an additional 36-hour extension granted by the Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (12th March)
A second 24-hour extension granted yesterday afternoon (13 March).
In a statement, Humberside Police say the extra time is "imperative to the investigation due to the complexities of the incident with the vessels in the sea, the number of witnesses involved and establishing any scenes to collate and gather information and evidence".
The family of the crew member of the Solong missing, presumed dead, are being supported by specially trained officers.
