There are claims plans for a devolution deal has received cautious backing in North East Lincolnshire so far from a majority of people at recent consultation sessions.
The deal sees North East Lincolnshire join with their counterparts in North Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire County council.
If finalised it would see greater powers and more funding brought to the region.
We'll be able make decisions on how to spend money currently being spent on our behalf
One aspect that's divided opinion is the Government has stipulated it must be overseen by a directly elected Mayor.
Those against say it would be another layer of bureaucracy.
It's been defended as being a key contact point for the Government who could coordinate plans.
We spoke to leader of North East Lincolnshire council Phillip Jackson about how drop in sessions have been going.
"It'll be much better because currently money's being spent on our behalf down in Westminster in London and what will happen is we'll be getting that money in the future."
"We also get extra powers as well - so we'll be able to make decisions about how we spend that money."
We could tailor cash to the requirements of local people
"Generally speaking the feedback we've had so far - because the public consultation has been open since before Christmas - since the beginning of December - and most of the responses we're getting are pretty positive."
"One or two people have a doubt about whether they want an elected Mayor though."
"When we're spending money we could tailor it to what we know as local politicians are the requirements of local people."
"We'll be able to focus it - things like improving transport infrastructure and improving skills training for adults."
"Those are just a couple of examples."
