People living in part of Cleethorpes say parking is becoming a “nightmare.”

Permit zones are set to be brought in on roads around St Peter’s Avenue to solve the long running problem.

Those living on the street say they don’t like going out because they are “terrified” they won’t be able to get parked again.

Parking permit zones are set to be brought in on roads around St Peter’s Avenue to solve the long-running problem.

The residential streets are currently flooded with cars from nearby shop-workers.

Holidaymakers in the resort apparently abandon their vehicles for up to a week.

Derek White has been campaigning to get permits brought in for years, and is hopeful it will succeed this time.

“Parking has been terrible in the area for years and years,” he said.

“We couldn’t get enough interest the last time a permit system was brought up, but it’s got so bad now that most people are in agreement.

“There are 19 residents with cars on Cosgrove Street, yet I can count at least 40 cars right now.

“There are never any parking spaces until half 5 or 6 when the shopworkers have gone home.

“I’m also in favour of the plans to make it a one-way street, which will end the stand-offs when people end up nose to nose and can’t reverse – they can go on for quite a while.”

One permit zone, which would reserve the area for residents, is proposed for Cosgrove Street, Mill Place and Dolphin Street. A second would be created on Glebe Road, Fair View Avenue, Crow Mill Avenue, West Street, Kew Road and a section of Mill Road.

The plan would create short-term waiting and loading zones for local businesses.
