A Hull Headteacher is urging the government to bring out clear guidance around the spread of the Omicron variant.

It comes as the NEU calling for what measures they believe needs to be in place in schools.

The NEU’s have written out their own version of plan B to stop the disruption of education.

Colin Peaks is the principal at Wilberforce College in Hull, he said:

“Virus which is a concern those numbers are probably likely to increase over the next few weeks but the bigger issue is the staff absence which is significant. There is a lack of cover for classes.

“I believe there are a lot of staff that are fearful of mixing in large groups and there are parents that are worried about sending their son or daughter into college.

Its quite often left to interpretation of the principal on how to apply the rules, it would be a lot easier if it was very clear, everyone did the same and there was some guidance to share with parents and students to make our jobs a lot easier.”
