A North East Lincolnshire woman has returned home victorious after winning the Karaoke World Championships.

Ellie Butler from Healing near Grimsby travelled to Panama for the competition, which she won on Saturday.

She beat another 43 competitors from around the world with her performance of a Jennifer Hudson version of the Andy Williams song 'The Impossible Dream'.

She's returned home with £5,000 prize money and is hoping to encourage other UK singers to give it a go next year.

Ellie says her victory means a lot to her and her family:

"My Dad was a bit emotional, he's really really proud. Unfortunately I lost my Mum last year.

"It's been an emotional week because really I was singing for her through every song. I know she'll be watching down really proud of me.

On the win she said:

"Absolutely surreal, I got back on the plane and the pilot announced it and they brought me champagne and everyone cheered on the plane.

"I felt like I won the X Factor it was absolutely amazing."
