There are fears the measures announced by the Chancellor yesterday will only increase the pressure on people across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire and may well impact their mental health.

A planned income tax cut has been scrapped whilst a two year unit energy price freeze will now run for just six months leading to fears for the longer term future

Around a third of people nationally say the price of fuel is their main worry – and in many cases it’s stopping them from seeing their loved ones.

We spoke to Jack Moore from East Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire MIND about the situation.

He told us: "The current cost of living crisis is going to have an impact on the things that we can afford to do."

"What we need to continue to do is just being there for people and reaching out to people who are struggling with finance and mental health."

"Connections is such a factor on our mental health, it's one of the 5 ways to wellbeing and it doesn't matter how you reach out whether it's via phone or text, just remembering that does help."

"We're currently working with individuals and business across the area just to raise awareness of some of the factors that could be causing people to struggle."

"We're continuing to support individuals to find work."
