Man charged after armed police called to Grimsby

A 27-year-old has been detained by police in Grimsby after officers received reports of a person in possession of a machete whilst walking along Boulevard Way.
He's been charged this morning (09/10) with a number of offensives, including two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
Humberside Police say for "the safety of the public" armed officers were deployed around 12.45pm on Sunday (08/10).
They detained a 27-year-old man, arresting him on suspicion of possessing a bladed weapon.
Police also seized the weapon.
27-year-old Paul Jones, of Boulevard Way in Grimsby has been charged with two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, criminal damage and driving whilst disqualified.
He's due in court today(09/10), after being remanded in custody.
Inspector Steve Peck said: “Residents can expect to see an increased police presence whilst the man remains in our custody and we continue to conduct lines of enquiry.
