Increased police presence in Grimsby

Patrols in an area of Grimsby have been stepped up, as police investigate a suspected arson attack.

Officers were called out at 1am on Thursday (4 February) morning.

A man was arrested on suspicion of arson and assault, and has been bailed with conditions while officers investigate.

Detective Inspector Tom Kelly said: “Over the coming days, the community may see an increased police presence in the surrounding area of Wellowgate, as we continue our active investigation.

“Officers are there to provide reassurance and listen to any concerns.

“I want to also provide reassurance that this incident is believed to be an isolated one, with no wider threat.

Officers are also appealing for information about the incident.
