Humberside Fire and Rescue is urging people to be careful when passing horses on the roads
They say it's likely more horse riders will be out and about at the moment
Overtake them wide and slow, that's the advice from Humberside Fire and Rescue as it says there may be more horse riders out over the festive holidays.
The British Horse Society says there's been a 23% increase in incidents involving horses.
Mark is from the Road Safety Team, he says;
"Give them at least a cars width, ideally if you can do it two. I know it's not easy on narrow country roads but give them as much space as you can. The narrower the roads the slower you should go "
He continues;
"You've got to slow down - pass wide and slow, and be prepared to stop if you're a driver. Don't go more than 15 miles per hour. I'd go even slower than that maybe 10 miles per hour"
