Hull and North East Lincolnshire travel agent says airports must recruit more staff
It follows major delays at some airports yesterday
Ministers are blaming long queues and cancellations at airports on aviation bosses, for their treatment of staff during the pandemic.
The GMB union says cutting skilled workers was short-sighted.
Airlines are now struggling to train and get security clearance for new recruits - which has caused half-term disruption.
We've been spoken to Andrew Earle a travel agent in Hull and North East Lincolnshire.
He told us: "The whole industry within travel has tried to lower its cost basis as low as it could possibly be".
"I think the current squeeze that we're seeing where we're not able to recruit into the industry that's going to have to have an impact and people are going to have to pay more to travel if we're going to get over this hump."
"Several people have reported (to us) long delays to baggage after returning to the UK".
"Two people affected by flights being cancelled when they've been due to travel out."
"That person has told me there's baggage everywhere and it's absolute carnage at Manchester airport".
"People don't know what's going on."
We also said the situation at some of the airports closer to us isn't as bad.
"Doncaster has been exceptionally smooth in recent weeks along with East Midlands."
"Leeds- Bradford and Manchester has seen issues."
"Most of this seems to be staffing issues."
