Lavender Hill in Cleethorpes has sent Christmas donations to the Grimsby women's refugee and the local NSPCC, after 7 hundred pounds was raised to restore their business.

Earlier this year, the salon was destroyed after a burglar allegedly broke in and turned on the taps, flooding the building.

A local man set up a just giving page to help restore the salon, but after realising their insurance would pay out to fix the damages, the owners wanted to put the cash to better use.

Donations to the NSPCC

Carla Austin, one of the owners said:

"We went out and we bought lots of presents, ranging from baby up to teenage years 16.

"And then for the women's aid, we bought lots of toiletries, women's essentials, baby things, toys."

"There's families of like 6 and 7 children, and one of them said 'Christmas is cancelled this year', which is just a bit heart wrenching to hear.

"It's going to make a massive, massive difference to lots of families this year."

Carla said:

"It just really wasn't right for us to have the money, it just didn't sit well.

"We thought we'd donate to the women's aid and NSPCC, because they need it more than us.

"Our area, for the NSPCC, it's worse than what you think and it's heart breaking. Because it's local, the presents are going local, which is fantastic."
