Mobile phone users in Grimsby may experience problems with calls, texts and data after O2 confirmed that a nearby mast is out of action due to nesting birds.

The company said engineers are ready to carry out repairs but cannot begin work until the birds have safely moved on.

An O2 spokesperson explained: “Sorry, a phone mast close to you isn’t working as it should. We’re ready to fix it, but we’ve discovered there are birds nesting in the mast – for their safety, we need to wait until they’ve moved before we can begin.”

Customers have been told that disruption may continue for several weeks, with the next update expected by Saturday, 30 August.
