Public health officials have reissued urgent advice across North East Lincolnshire following a spike in suspected drug overdoses in Grimsby.

Several people were hospitalised after being found unresponsive in January, with concerns linked to a powerful drug in circulation.

Officials are stressing the importance of knowing how to use naloxone and to stay with anyone unresponsive while emergency services are on the way.

Geoff Barnes, Deputy Director of Public Health for Northern Lincolnshire, said: “We know that there’s some harmful drugs circulating in the Grimsby area. These drugs can cause a very sudden overdose which can be life threatening. It’s really important to follow the advice issued to protect both yourself and your friends.”
