Grimsby man jailed for violent assault
An additional five-year restraining order has also been imposed

A Grimsby man's been jailed for two and a half years after a violent assault in the town.
44 year old David Cummings of Westerdale Way in Grimsby was found guilty by a jury and sentenced by Judge Bury to two and a half years in jail for the offence of Section 20 Assault Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) â malicious wounding.
Cummings was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court last Friday (17th June).
On Saturday 24 July 2021 Cummings stabbed a 25 year old three times with a flick knife over a ten pound debt owed to him by the victim.
The incident happened in a communal are of a block of flats on Westerdale Way Grimsby and led to the victim needing surgery for three separate stab wounds which caused internal bleeding requiring surgery.
Half of Cummings sentence is to be served in custody and half on licence.
An additional five-year restraining order has also been imposed on Cummings.
Investigating the case was DC Chris Clarke who said:
âI would like to praise the courage of the victim in assisting with our enquiries and the investigation. I know it has taken a long time to get to this stage and I hope that this sentencing gives him some sense that justice has been served.
âNo one needs to be reminded of the dangers of carrying knives and this is an example of how something got out of hand very quickly and led to a very serious assault.
âCummings has been proved to be a dangerous man and I hope that this sentence will provide the local community with some reassurance that he is behind bars now.â
