A former North East Lincolnshire councillor has been jailed for 14 years following one of the biggest blackmail inquiries in UK history.

45-year-old Nigel Wright, of Caistor Road, Market Rasen, spiked baby food with pieces of metal and asked Tesco for almost one and a half million pounds in bitcoin to reveal were they were.

Detective Inspector Lucy Thomson says Operation Hancock was a once-in-a-life-time investigation.

He was a North East Lincolnshire councillor for part of the noughties.
