Cyclist dies after collision in Grimsby

Two men have been arrested in connection with the investigation

Two men have been arrested after a man was fatally injured in a road traffic collision in Grimsby.

Police were called out to Carnforth crescent on Sunday afternoon to reports a cyclist had been struck by a car - which it's believed then left the scene.

The man was taken to hospital but he died in hospital this morning. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-man have been arrested in connection with the investigation and remain in custody.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Alan Curtis said:

“Understandably given the nature of this incident it will be concerning to the local community, however I want to offer my reassurance that we have already made a number of enquiries to establish the circumstances and ascertain exactly what has happened.

“As part of our enquiries, a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man have been arrested in connection with this investigation and the circumstances surrounding it, and they currently remain in police custody.

“I would appeal to anyone who has any information that may assist with our enquiries, or anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage of the area around the time of the collision to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 458 of 21 May.
