Corporation Bridge gets stuck again
The bridge became stuck during an inspection lift.
Corporation Bridge has once again become stuck during an inspection lift.
The Grimsby bridge didn’t move on the first attempt and has managed to raise just a few inches during a second.
It was due to be lifted to inspect the underside and the lifting mechanism.
It is understood that a ceased up pin caused problems.
A previous inspection earlier this month ended in disappointment, with high water levels and a build-up of debris reportedly leaving it stuck in position.
Engineers examined a junction box near the lifting mechanism in their efforts to raise the iconic Grimsby landmark.
The council and Engie are carrying out a £5million refurbishment with funds coming from Department of Transport, North East Lincolnshire Council and the Local Transport Fund.
The inspection was due to gather information on the condition of the control tower and bridge deck as planning continues.
