Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers has been reacting to the news that Liz Truss has resigned as Prime Minister.

He told us: "I think her position was totally without any credibility once her economic policies had been shown to be unworkable."

"I made my position clear and I think the resignation was inevitable."

"I think the more cautious approach to the economy Rishi Sunak was putting forward has been shown to be correct."

"I'd be inclined to support him but we don't yet know who the contestants will be".

"We can't afford to go through a period with too many new faces in the cabinet, what we want is old hands who've been there and got experience."

"We have an energy crisis as a result of Putin's invasion, we can't change that, we have to live with that."

"The Government has cushioned both business and individuals against that which is very welcome."
