A woman has died following a house fire in Grimsby.

Emergency service were called to a property on Sherwood Road in the town after they received reports of a fire around 8.15pm (Tuesday 12 November).

The fire was put out and when they entered the property a woman was given medical assistance before being taken to hospital for treatment.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman died a short while later.

Humberside Police have said:

"A scene guard remains in place whilst officers work with the fire service to establish the cause of the fire, however at this time, there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
