44 new cadets join Humberside Police
An oath ceremony took place on Wednesday
Humberside Police have welcomed 44 new cadets.
An oath ceremony took place on Wednesday (20th October) and it means they will now have a variety of different duties.
The cadets were joined by their family and friends to celebrate their achievements and to recognise the hard work they put in to successfully completing their initial training.
The Duty Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire Lynne Hope was also in attendance as she thanked the cadets for giving back to their communities and encouraged them to use the opportunity to build their futures.
After taking the oath, the cadets will now have a variety of different duties. They will continue to be committed to attending a two-hour lesson each week, as well as volunteering for at least three hours per month with the community teams.
Sergeant Nick Bunker, of the Community Safety Unit, said:
“The cadet scheme was re-introduced in 2017 at Humberside Police and in that time they have done some fantastic things.
“With the support of our dedicated unit leaders, our cadets have worked hard to gain new skills and abilities that not only help them with being a police cadet, but also help them to serve their local communities.
“As the scheme has grown, we are starting to see cadets return as Cadet Leaders and as members of Humberside Police staff. It’s brilliant to see how the cadet project has helped them to achieve their goals and we are very proud of what our cadets do to make a difference.
“They truly are a credit to themselves and the Force.”
Community Engagement Coordinator Katie Hardy, who is the lead for the cadets, said:
“I’m delighted to welcome the new cadets and we look forward to seeing their continued development and involvement with local policing.
“Over the years the cadets have worked very hard to make a difference and it’s wonderful that the scheme is supported by so many.
“We are really looking forward to see our new recruits progress through the scheme and to learn from one another.”

Recruitment for the next intake opens in April 2022 to those 15 and 16 years of age. This will be advertised on Humberside Police's website as well as through their social media channels.
