Thames Water are asking people to be mindful of their water usage following the driest spring recorded in 70 years.
Thames Water, who provide water to parts of Gloucestershire, are asking people to be mindful of their water usage following one of the driest springs in 70 years.
The company are offering tips to people on how best to save water as we head into the summer months.
Andrew Tucker is the demand reduction manager at Thames Water, he said,
'On average a leaky loo doubles an entire family’s daily use of water and therefore their bill.'
'A couple minutes off your shower a day, you're not just saving on water but also on your energy bill', he added.
Thames Water currently have no plans to enforce restrictions on water usage but Mr Tucker did stress that, 'Mother nature is unpredictable,' and although they have no plans for a hosepipe ban right now, 'It can't be ruled out'.
Thames Water also promote further ways to save water on their website, which includes collecting rainwater, turning off the taps and reducing washes.
The Environment Agency (EA) has declared a state of drought already in the North West of England, as well as announcing a medium risk for this summer.
