Warning about open water swimming after man's death near Stroud
It follows the death of a 40 year-old man at Woodchester Park.
The National Trust are reminding people of the dangers of swimming in open water - following the death of a 40 year-old man from Stroud at Woodchester Park.
Officers were called to the lake just before 5 o clock on Saturday evening.
The Trust are reminding people that swimming is banned in the lakes - as the hot weather continues - and that they are "deep, cold and hide many dangers."
A National Trust spokesperson said: "We are saddened to hear of the incident at Woodchester Park on the evening of Saturday 10 June.
"The safety of visitors is our priority and swimming is not permitted in the lakes at Woodchester Park.
"The lakes are deep, cold and hide many dangers. In addition, mobile phone coverage is poor and it is not easy to call help quickly. There is signage on site saying that swimming is not allowed."
