Two men assaulted after receiving homophobic abuse in Cheltenham

Two men were assaulted in Cheltenham at around 8:15pm on Easter Sunday (Sunday 9 April) after receiving homophobic abuse.

The victims were walking on the lower end of the High Street, under the bridge near to the Tesco supermarket. One of the sustained a nosebleed and the other a bruised jaw.

Gloucestershire Police are now appealing for witnesses after reports a group of around six teenage boys, aged between 16 and 17 allegedly shouted homophobic slurs before assaulting the two men.

The suspects, who fled the scene, are described as being white teenage boys who were all wearing tracksuits.

Officers are currently investigating and reviewing all CCTV footage from the area. They are now asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have any information to come forward.
