Tributes are being paid to one of the horses at the Cheltenham Festival - who's died after a race.

Race officials confirmed that Highland Hunter was put down after a nasty fall on Day One of the festival.

"It's obviously a tremendously sad day for the yard, especially for Scott (Sainsbury) and Sophie (Kelly) who looked after Highland Hunter," said O'Brien, who trains locally to the Prestbury Park track.

"I suppose the only comfort we can take is that he is with Keagan now. It's a very sad day."

Tens of thousands of people have flocked to the racecourse today - with the same expected tomorrow for Ladies Day.
