The Transport Secretary, Mark Harper, has lost his seat in the Forest of Dean. As the Labour candidate, Matt Bishop has won the majority of the votes.

Mark Harper has had the seat since 2005 and was appointed as the Secretary of State for Transport in 2022. In the last general election in 2019, his majority grew to over 15,000.

The Forest of Dean had previously been held by Labour since 1997 until 2005.

Labour's Matt Bishop will now set to work as the constituency's new MP.
