Three more cases of the Brazilian variant of coronavirus have been discovered in South Gloucestershire.

Public Health England (PHE) have confirmed all three cases are either close contacts or family members of the two already discovered in the area last month.

They were all offered tests in response to the initial cases being discovered. Surge testing was also rolled out across the area recently.

Contact tracing teams are now working to identify any further potential contacts that may have contracted the strain of Covid-19, to prevent it spreading any further.

One other case was also identified in Bradford in West Yorkshire.

That takes the total number of cases of what's officially known as the P.1 strain to 10 in the UK - seven in England and three in Scotland.
