Three men have been robbed and assaulted in Cirencester town centre, by a group of other men.

The victims were approached by four or five people close to the King's Head Hotel on the Market Place at around 10.00pm last night (Wednesday 30th April).

The suspects were all wearing yellow hi-vis jacket and believed to be in their 20s.

Gloucestershire Police say the incident began as a conversation, before one of the men in hi-vis punched a man in the other group.

A stick was also used to hit the victim.

Following an altercation between the two groups, the three victims were punched to the ground and had their wallets and phones taken.

Officers have spoken to a number of witnesses and checked local CCTV.

It's believed the group in hi-vis, speaking with Welsh accents, had been in the Black Horse pub earlier in the evening, acting in a rowdy manner.

The man who threw the first punch is described as small, with a large build, ginger hair and tattoos on his neck.

Gloucestershire Police want to hear from anyone with information about the group, or the incident itself.
