Tewkesbury police officers re-engage with communities after lockdown
A series of event are taking place over the next three months
Police officers from the Tewkesbury Neighbourhood Policing Team are re-engaging with the community to help them feel safer after lockdown.
Local engagement events are set to take place over the next 90 days which the public can attend to raise community concerns and get advice from officers and a range of other agencies.
Today the local officers will be at the Northway Co-Op car park in the morning before moving to Twyning Village Hall in the afternoon.
The fire service, Trading Standards, Bromford Housing will be in there along with the Community Engagement Vehicle.
Trading Standards will also be giving advice about scams and how to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of fraud.
PCSO Farah Devji-Large, who organised the events, said: “Community Engagement events are a great way to work with local communities whilst making sure that we reach every resident to provide crime prevention and fire safety advice.
“I am hopeful that next week’s events are something that local residents will be interested in as the communities of Bishop’s Cleeve, Northway and Twyning are areas that we regularly visit.
“The events will essentially encourage the community to come together and help us address any issues that we may not already be aware of and the team is looking forward to meeting everyone next week”.
Sergeant Elle Hammond, from Tewkesbury Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Our style of policing in the neighbourhood teams have really changed over the last 16 months due to the pandemic.
"Everything we normally do about community engagement we just haven't been able to do and we know some pockets of our communities have become quite isolated which then leads to vulnerable people being targeted by crime.
"If communities are stronger working together it leads to less crime and less disorder."
