Tewkesbury MP delivering aid to Ukraine
Tewkesbury MP Cameron Thomas is in Ukraine delivering aid.
Liberal Democrats MP Cameron Thomas says it's important to continue to show solidarity with Ukraine as he delivers aid to the country.
The Tewkesbury MP and RAF veteran has helped send supplies to Ukraine since the war began 3 years ago.
Thomas says he is 'honoured' to be able to do it on behalf of his constituents.
He told greatest Hits Radio that helping Ukrainians helps the British public by extension.
“This is not a war against Ukraine but the front line of a war against Europe as far as I’m concerned”
The MP says he wrote to Keir Starmer on Monday expressing the need for a just peace in Ukraine.
When describing what he was witnessing in the country Cameron Thomas said:
“I took a trip around Kharkiv with a member of local government.
“He showed me some of the worst damaged buildings including a school that used to educate 6000 children.
“It’s just fit for demolition at this point, there’s not a window, not a door, there’s no roof.
The damage is absolutely shocking, and it just goes to show that to the Russians everything is a legitimate target.”
