Teenager arrested after Cheltenham jeweller robbery

An 18 year-old is now in police custody in connection with an alleged smash and grab on Winchcombe Street yesterday afternoon.

Gloucestershire Police have arrested an 18 year old after a Jewellery shop was robbed near Cheltenham's main High Street.

Police were called to a jeweller on Winchcombe Street at around 1pm, after reports a man with a hammer had entered a shop.

He's alleged to of threatened staff before smashing display cabinets and taking a number of items.

The man then fled the scene in a white van, mounting the pavements and narrowly missing a number of people as they drove off towards High Street/Rodney Road.

No one was injured, but people were said to be left shaken by the ordeal.

Officer are linking this robbery to an incident on Hester Way Road in the early hours of Tuesday (15th August).

At around 6:15am a man is alleged to of entered a store, using a hammer, and smashing a till before stealing the cash inside.

He then left the area in a white van, heading towards Princess Elizabeth Way.

Police are now asking for any footage or witnesses to come forward.
