The discovery of a suspected World War Two bomb in Cheltenham has led to a brief evacuation.

Several properties in the Leckhampton Road, Moorend Road and Treelands Drive area of Leckhampton were affected earlier this afternoon (Monday 7th April).

A cordon was put in place as a safety precaution while explosive and ordnance experts were called out.

After checking the item, they deemed the area to be safe, and 'nothing of concern'.

Gloucestershire Police lifted the cordons around 12.40pm.

Officers have thanked residents for their patience while the incident was ongoing.
