Murals spreading positive coronavirus messages have been put on display at skate parks in Cheltenham.

The bright and colour artwork depicts the superhero called Izzy who sits alongside the slogan "some heroes wear capes, mine wear masks".

It's part of an initiative from Cheltenham Borough Council who've teamed up with Cheltenham Paint Festival to find a unique and fresh way of spreading coronavirus messaging.

Not only is it bringing colour to the skate parks but it's also hoped to target a younger audience who can be harder to reach by the Borough Council.

Councillor Rowena Hay, Leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, said:

"People are getting quite tired with the Covid messaging and one of the things we've really thought about is how to focus on younger people in particular.

"Izzy is a young character who was created to really show the importance of wearing a mask who appeals to young people because they have superheroes in one for or another.

"It's really important that we try to move with the times.

She continued:

"It's important we catch young people and families in a much more engaging way.

"We want to reach as many different in in as many different ways as we possibly can".

The murals have been displayed at Pittville and Beeches skate parks in the town with plans to also display Izzy in Springfield and Montpellier parks as well.
