A Gloucestershire school needs funds to repair their much loved swimming pool after it was damage by a heatwave last summer.

Five members of the school, including staff, governors, and parents, will be jumping 13,000 feet. They hope the skydive will raise £10,000 to go towards the repairs.

The pool has been deemed unsafe after cracks have appeared. Pupils cannot use the pool until the damage has been rectified.

Lisa Williams, the school's Office Manager, was a pupil when the pool first opened in 1979. The aim was every child would swim in the pool once a day from May to September.

Lisa Williams is taking part in the skydive along with Andrew Perry, Sue Tab, Rob Higgins, and Cllr Steve Hynd.

She said "I was one of the first to volunteer. I was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, losing my hair and having cancer were two of my biggest fears and I've faced them now. So jumping out of a plane at 13,000 feet, well, I'm really looking forward to."

"I'm very passionate about Leonard Stanley School's swimming pool. For some families it's the only place children can attend and learn, as swimming isn't usually a free sport."

The skydive will take place on 10 March in Salisbury.
