People in Gloucestershire are being urged to prepare for some potentially heavy downpours and high winds as Storm Bert begins battering parts of the UK.

The arrival of the storm has triggered a multitude of weather warnings across the country.

In Gloucester a yellow warning for rain is in force all day Saturday with forecasters warning of potential travel disruption and flooding.

The Met Office says some communities could find themselves cut off, with spray and flooding leading to difficult driving conditions.

There's also the potential of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.

People are being reminded that floodwater can pose a danger to life, with some homes and businesses facing damage as the Storm hits this weekend.
