It seems the final days of 2020 will offer South West residents a minutiae of the year's enduring memories.

We can expect more disruption to everyday life.

However, the Coronavirus pandemic cannot be blamed this time.

Instead, freezing temperatures are forecast - with the Met Office issuing yellow weather warnings for snow and ice.

It suggests some injuries and falls can be expected on icy surfaces from Monday 28 December, into the following morning.

According to the Weather Service, there is also a "small chance" of snow and ice causing travel disruption and power cuts from Wednesday 30 December into the early hours of New Year's Eve.

These warnings apply to Bristol, Bath, Swindon and Gloucestershire - as well as parts of Somerset and Devon.

'Avoid unnecessary travel'

The alerts follow the disruption reported to Gloucestershire Police on Monday 28 December, mainly in the Forest of Dean and the A417 near Birdlip.

The force has since urged people to "stay safe and avoid all unnecessary travel".

Local motorists were also issued this advice:
