In a statement, the club said it was "devastated"
Rugby league legend Rob Burrow has been remembered by Gloucester Rugby, who said they were "devastated" to hear of his passing.
The former Leeds Rhinos and England player had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019.
He then went on to raise millions of pounds towards awareness of the condition.
Gloucester Rugby have since posted a tribute on X, it said:
"Gloucester Rugby is devastated to learn of the passing of Rob Burrow CBE.
"MND is regrettably a disease close to all our hearts.
"The tireless work of Rob, Lindsey and the Burrow family to help those affected, and to work towards a cure, will forever be a lasting legacy in the fight against MND.
"To the Burrow Family. Our thoughts are with you now and always."
Burrow spearheaded a £6.8 million appeal for Leeds Hospitals Charity, where he received care, for a state-of-the-art care centre for people living with motor neurone disease.
Leeds Rhinos said work today (03/06/2024) to begin building the new Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease will "go ahead as planned at Rob's request", adding it was a tribute to his "incredible work".
Leeds Hospitals Charity said Burrow was "an inspiration, not only to the people of Yorkshire, but the entire nation, and across the world", adding that he spread joy with his "infectious smile and unwavering sense of humour".
