A man aged in his 40s from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died.

Emergency services were called around 1.30pm to the property on St Paul's Road after reports a man had sustained a serious injury.

Despite the best efforts of those providing medical assistance at the scene, the man was pronounced deceased.

Officers are in the early stages of an investigation and are appealing for anyone who has not already spoken to police to make contact with them.

The man who was arrested remains in police custody at this time.

St Paul's Road in Cheltenham remains cordoned off.

The closure is in place near the University of Gloucestershire's Francis Close Hall Campus.

We're told the cordon's expect to remain in place for several days.

In a statement, Gloucestershire Police said: "Emergency services are at the scene of a serious incident at an address in Cheltenham.

"Road closures and a scene guard are currently in place on St Paul's Road."
