Cheltenham residents are being asked to have their say on plans to redevelop the former University of Gloucestershire Hardwick Campus.

Planning consultants are hosting a public consultation on their proposals for the university’s four former accommodation blocks, administration centre and centre for art and photography in St Paul’s Road.

The former campus was recently sold for redevelopment and developers are considering two scheme for the 4.69-acre site.

One being for a residential redevelopment with new homes and the other comprising a new care home alongside re-use of some of the existing buildings for residential and employment use.

Planning consultancy Black Box Planning is to host a public consultation event regarding plans at Hardwick Campus, St Paul’s Road on Thursday, November 27 which will run from 2pm to 7pm.

Members of the public and local residents are invited to attend and they want people to look at the plans and provide feedback for their design team to review.

They say their aim is to “deliver a quality development which enhances the local area, so it’s important that ideas from local people feed into that process”.

Conor Flanagan of Black Box Planning said: “This consultation marks the beginning of our engagement with the local community regarding redevelopment plans for the site.

“It is an opportunity for the local people to input into our masterplanning and design ideas.

“We are consulting on two options for the site, one being a residential redevelopment with new homes, and the other comprising a new care home alongside re-utilisation of some of the existing buildings for residential and employment use.

“We’d encourage people to take a look at the plans and provide their feedback which the appointed design team will review.

“Our aim is to deliver a quality development which enhances the local area, so it’s important that ideas from local people feed into that process.”
