The ballroom of Pittville Pump Room has been closed after routine maintenance checks confirmed the need for repair work.
Cheltenham Borough Council says they are prioritising the work to the much-loved building to ensure long term safety and enjoyment.
The regency café and upper floors will stay open.
It’s as the building undergoes work to restore the iconic front steps.
A spokesperson for Cheltenham Borough Council said: “Pittville Pump Room is a cherished heritage asset, owned and maintained by the borough council and managed by The Cheltenham Trust.
"The unavoidable decision to close the ballroom to undertake remedial work has been made so the building can be preserved for enjoyment by future generations.
“We are committed to getting the ballroom reopened as soon as possible and will keep people informed about the progress of this vital work to protect the Pump Room’s future.’’
Anyone unsure about the status of a booking should contact The Cheltenham Trust directly.
