Police thank public for their support during unrest
A statement has been released.
The Assistant Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Constabulary has thanked the public for their support during national unrest.
Donna Lawton says she could understand how these had left people in Gloucestershire feeling concerned and worried.
She says they are continuing to monitor information at a local and national level to make sure they have the right level of resources on duty.
Lawton said:
"Last week, we published a message letting you know about our position following the incidents of violent disorder across some parts of the country. We were aware that these events had, understandably, left many people in Gloucestershire feeling concerned and worried.
"I would like to reassure you that we are continuing to monitor information at a local and national level to make sure we have the right level of resources on duty so that we’re able to respond to any incidents. We will take robust action against anyone identified as engaging in disorder.
"Keeping people safe from harm remains our priority. To help us to do that, we will continue to work with partner organisations through the Gloucestershire Local Resilience Forum (LRF), and local people through our community engagement and reassurance work.
"If you have any information about pre-planned disorder or criminality, please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
