Gloucestershire Police are taking part in a week of action to crack down on uninsured drivers in a bid to make roads safer.

The GL15 postcode of the Forest of Dean was found to be a hotspot for uninsured drivers in Gloucestershire as part of a study done by the Motor Insurers Bureau.

#OpDriveInsured24 is a national campaign that will see police stopping uninsured drivers and seizing vehicles.

Drivers caught without insurance could face £300 fines and 6 points on their license.

Uninsured drivers can help uncover a range of other offences such as drink driving and stolen vehicles.

Although many vehicles that are seized will be purposely uninsured police are warning those who want to be law abiding to make sure they check their insurance and payment methods are still valid to avoid common mistakes amongst drivers.
