Police cordon off Cheltenham Minster following assault

17 year old assaulted leaving him with serious injuries

Police have cordoned off part of Cheltenham Minster in Cheltenham town centre following an assault yesterday evening.

At around 8.20pm a teenage boy attacked a 17-year-old boy in Minster St Mary's churchyard with a glass bottle causing him serious injuries.

The victim was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where he continues to be treated for his injuries.

Two 15-year-old boys from Cheltenham were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remain in police custody.

Officers are currently looking for any witnesses to the attack. They would like to speak to anybody who was in the area at the time or who has any information regarding the incident.

Police cordons are in place while investigations continue.
