Police asking for dash cam footage after car crash with child cyclist
The 11-year-old boy has been taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with injuries to his head and legs
Gloucestershire Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision involving a Mini and a child cyclist in Gloucester this morning (Tuesday 24 January).
Police were called to Waterwells Drive in Quedgeley at 8.20am with a report that the child had been injured while crossing the road from Wheatstone House.
The 11-year-old, who was riding an orange bicycle, had crossed after a vehicle in lane one stopped to allow him past. However, the driver of a new shape red Mini Cooper travelling in the second lane was involved in a collision with the bicycle, causing the child to fall to the floor.
Officers say the Mini failed to stop to check on the welfare of the boy or to provide details, and continued towards Telford Way.
Members of the public stopped to help the boy before he was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with injuries to his head and legs.
Officers are now asking the driver of the Mini to make contact and give an account of what happened.
As well as this, they are asking anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn't yet spoken to officers or who has dashcam footage to come forward.
