Police arrest fan after allegedly racially abusing Forest Green Rovers player

It reportedly happened last night during their home game against Fleetwood Town

A 23 year old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of racially abusing a Forest Green Rovers player.

The incident allegedly took place during The Vegans 0-0 draw to Fleetwood Town last night.

In a statement Forest Green Rovers say, " Forest Green Rovers are disappointed to learn that one of our players was subject to racial abuse from a Fleetwood Town supporter this evening.

The incident happened in the first half of the game. A male was escorted out of the ground, handed to police and was subsequently arrested.

There is no place for racism in football and society. We will continue to assist Gloucestershire Police and the Football Association with their enquiries.

The club will make no further comment at this time."

Gloucestershire police have subsequently released the football fan on bail whilst their investigations continue, adding "There's no place for racism in football or society #KickItOut."
