Plans to build 95 homes off the A38 north of Gloucester have been given the go-ahead.

Vistry Homes Limited has been granted permission by Tewkesbury Borough Council to develop land off the A38 in Coombe Hill.

The 12.1-acre site is a field next to the Texaco garage to the northeast of the junction of the A4019 and A38 at Coombe Hill.

Daniel Sharp, of Nexus Planning, spoke in support of the reserved matters application at this week’s planning committee

He said the land at Coombe Hill was allocated for housing development as part of the recently adopted local plan.

“The proposals provide a mix of dwellings which is in broad compliance with the most up to date housing need survey,” he said.

“And 40% affordable housing, the size, mix, tenure and clustering of which are fully compliant with the outline planning permission.

He also said the site will have almost six acres of public open space and the proposals include two parking spaces per home with two bedrooms or more.

Councillor Andrew Reece proposed approving the scheme and this was seconded by Cllr Jim Mason (C, Winchcombe).

Councillors voted to approve the scheme by 15 votes for to two against.
